Because this image is in black and white it makes the station look so much more dramatic.  All this drama is lost when you are actually in the station.  Don’t get me wrong, it is still beautiful, but more in an architectural way.  It’s eerie being there really early in the morning as it signs are going (the newer computerized ones and the old school flippy ones).  Walking out of the station at night is a beautiful first glance of Paris.  There are so many neon signs and while it would seem cheesy and ugly, it isn’t.  It’s beautiful and somehow uniquely Parisian.
