So I just got back from seeing My Chemical Romance for the second time in a row. I saw them tonight in Chicago and last night in St. Louis. They were completely amazing both times. Last night we couldn’t get close to the stage and had to stand off to the side because the pit and middle sections were reserved for 21+ Tonight however, after waiting over two hours in the cold, I got to be right in front. I placed myself perfectly on stage right, right in front of Frank. During the opening acts I couldn’t see much, but it was alright as I saw them the night before and they weren’t who I paid to see anyway. The girl that stood in front of me, who I originally hated, turned out to be my savior during My Chem. She didn’t move the entire time, so I attached myself to her and got to keep my amazing spot. She even shared her bottle of water with me when I felt like I was about to vomit and pass out towards the end.
The guys are so amazing. Listening to them on a cd or in an interview is one thing, but to see them right in front of you, playing their hearts out is completely different. Frank is so amazing, he puts his whole self into every song that they play. Every time Gerard talked, especially during Vampire Money, Frank laughed and cracked a little smile. Between the Chicago and St. Louis show, he seemed to be the only one that actually even had a change of clothes, as the rest of the boys wore the same clothes. Behind him on the speakers, there was a dual frame with pictures of his twins. I had seen pictures/heard he did this, but seeing this in person was so cute. He is such a dedicated father, taking them anyway he can on the road with them. Ray also seemed to be very touchy-feely during the two shows. In St. Louis he walked across the stage between songs to whisper to Frank and pull him into a hug. He did the same with Mikey in Chicago, and another time with Frank. They were all smiley, it was good to seem them all happy. Mikey of course never smiled, except for twice. Once was Frank and him were really into playing and they backed into each other. The next time was when they came back out to play the encore and he picked up his silver sparkly bass.
I don’t even know what to say about Gerard. Yesturday the only thing that I noticed at first was how skinny he has gotten. He was never fat, but he had some meat on his bones. Now he seems to be competing with Mikey for the skinniest in the band. His hair looked amazing, the red slowly fading to orange at the roots and then back to black. I like the extra-wide mohawk look on him. It works. He also wears a necklace with half a heart and a dagger on in. I can only assume Lyn-Z has the other half, as it looked like a friendship bracelets that kids give each other.
Seeing the boys on stage again, after about 2 years was such a spirit lifter. They fill me with something that I can’t describe. Yes, I do love their music, I do think they all are incredibly cute and okay I do believe in Ferard/Frerard (however you wanna spell it). But it is more than that. I have a respect for them. They didn’t save myself in the face that I stopped cutting or no longer wanted to commit suicide. They did, however, allow a side of me to come out that I think I had been keeping away or ignoring. I will always love them and the work they produce. Their energy and love for their fans, is something that has to be seen to understand. I’m glad that I can be apart of it.
On another note: I think the guy standing behind me jizzed all over my ass during the show.
